Tele-therapy / Online Speech Therapy

Online therapy (also called teletherapy) allows children to work with their speech and language therapist through a video platform. Research and clinical experience show that teletherapy can be highly effective for many speech and language goals, and for some children it can even increase engagement and independence.

At Bloom Therapy we are striving for consistency in provision; we know this leads to the best outcomes. Online sessions are offered as a standard therapy option and can be especially helpful when families are travelling, managing busy schedules, or prefer the convenience of therapy from home.

Why consider online therapy?

1. Flexible and convenient

Online therapy removes the need for travel and waiting rooms. Sessions can take place from home, which can make therapy easier to fit into busy family schedules.

2. Familiar environment for the child

Many children feel more relaxed and confident when they are in their own home. This can help them participate more freely and communicate more naturally.

3. Highly engaging

Therapists use interactive activities such as digital games, visual supports, drawing and annotation tools, shared screens and videos.

4. Parent involvement

Online therapy often allows parents to observe sessions more easily.

This helps families:

  • understand therapy techniques

  • learn strategies to use at home

  • support faster progress between sessions.

5. Strong evidence base

Teletherapy is widely-used internationally and supported by research showing it can be as effective as in-person therapy for many speech and language goals, including articulation, language development, fluency and social communication.
